Lincoln Book Festival. Discussion and reading from A Habit Of Dying. Kicked off History Day at 10.30am with an appreciative audience, full of questions. The post presentation discussion went on later in the corridor and by the tea counter, which is usually a good sign. Very exciting that another author wanted a copy of the book!

Well, what a day in High Wycombe's cavernous Eden shopping complex! A busy shop all day, but never seemed hurried and the book buyers of Bucks were a delight to talk to. An invitation to return close to Christmas rounded off a fantastic day.

A lovely day in Swindon, not the busiest but more than made up for by meeting some great people - a teacher with Sri Lankan origins, a Malaysian doctor with his soon-to-fly-home young son, two delighful and totally contrasting sisters - to mention just a few!

"A great addition to the list of venues for my Waterstones Summer Tour" was how this diary entry read before the 20th, and so it proved to be. What a great day with Aylesbury book buyers, in store for about 7 hours, looked after by the attentive crew in Waterstones.

What a pleasure to meet some of the good folk of Petersfield. Spent the day in store from around 10.30 until closing time, sustained by an excellent breakfast from 1 The Spain B&B. Almost signed every copy we had, just a few left in store for those who missed the day.

The Waterstones Summer Tour was extended into September and how lucky it proved to be. Enjoyed an excellent day in the Above Bar branch, so many good conversations with such a wide variety of readers. Helped close the shop at 5.30, very tired and very happy.

Almost full circle for the Habit Of Dying 2011 tour with a return to ever supportive Waterstones in Witney. Was met in the store by a lady, Cecile, who was waiting for me to appear! A first and made me feel very special. As did everyone else I met on a truly awesome day. Thank you Witney.
